ORBX was the first company to make use of this system where they offer the users a choice where to install their scenery: either inside Prepar3D or outside Prepar3D. It is now possible to update Prepar3D V5 without uninstalling all your addons, but that depends on your add-on developer utilizing the system. Obviously Lockheed Martin has had an earful about this from their clients over the years and that is why they have developed a different way to install addons into Prepar3D V4 and V5, but we will be concentrating on V5 for now since this is the version that is constantly being updated. Hooray! Not, because this Hot Fix requires you to completely uninstall the whole Prepar3D V5 and re-install the updated version! Yes, uninstall all your aircraft and scenery, update Prepar3D and then re-install it all again… What joy… Lockheed Martin recently released Hot Fix One for Prepar3D V5 which addresses the VRAM issue experienced by all of us. Sometimes the update process is quite easy where one can only uninstall either the Prepar3D Client, Content or the Scenery and then install the updated Client, Content, or the Scenery part, but it is not always that simple! Most of you will know what a mess it is to update Prepar3D when an update is made available. This message is aimed at all Prepar3D users, but especially those that use Prepar3D v5.
